It’s easy to know if an application is running. We can tell you if it’s Working (and when it’s not.)

When applications are running, they show up in the process stack. We monitor applications on Linux, Windows, MAC and UNIX, using a variety of methods to check the stack and ensure your applications are running and available. Monitoring the process stack is an important part of Application Monitoring, but that’s just the first step.

Short of someone actually using your application in real-time, implementing Synthetic Transactions is the Holy Grail in monitoring. If monitoring the process stack is step 1, putting your applications through their paces via Synthetic Transactions is definitely step 2. Can users actually place an order on your e-commerce page? Can they log in to your portal? See images? AEB can script out and execute these kinds of Synthetic Transactions on a regular basis, offering real-world feedback and an added layer of security.

AEB will work with you to determine how to best monitor the availability and performance of your databases. We typically implement a series of SNMP, CLI and/or SQL queries to collect and monitor what matters most to you. Is performance sluggish? Is a database filling up? Are queues getting full? Our expert developers and NOC engineers have experience monitoring SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres and many other databases.

Sometimes, the only way to test an application is to execute a call-level script. Other times, the only way to truly run an application through its paces is to execute a number of steps sequentially. AEB has developers on staff who are experts at this sort of thing. We do the work so you don’t have to!

Is email important to your company? Is downtime unacceptable? If that’s a challenge you’re facing, AEB can help. Similar to Synthetic Transactions, we’ll utilize an account on your mail system to generate and monitor bi-directional email transactions. We’ll send an email at regular intervals, verify it was sent, verify it was received, then reverse and repeat the process. We’ll check POP, IMAP, SMTP and others.

AEB can parse application event logs looking for error codes, success/failure messages, specific text or other useful information and let you know the instant there’s a problem. We can even alarm if a log file stops incrementing or fails to get created in the first place. This can be extremely useful both in detecting problems before they impact your employees or customers

Knowing that your servers, routers, firewalls and websites are up and running is important. Knowing that everything is working properly, however, is absolutely crucial. AEB measures application performance using a variety of custom checks and balances, including:

  • Monitoring the process stack
  • Synthetic Transactions
  • Database Monitoring
  • Multi-step scripts
  • Email system verification
  • Monitoring Event Logs

Whether Physical or Virtual, Leased or Owned, AEB provides 24×7 Server Monitoring Services to ensure the health, operation and uptime of your critical server infrastructure.

Monitor Sever Health

In addition to monitoring uptime and availability of applications running on your servers, the underlying server health is critical. AEB monitors standard health metrics, including Memory, CPU, Load, Disk Utilization, Bandwidth, Process Stack, Log Files, Syslog & SNMP Traps. High and Low thresholds may be added to any metric, and may also be time- or count-based to help reduce false positive alerts.

Server Monitor Methods

AEB utilizes both standard and custom polling methods. The most common methods are ICMP/TCP Ping, SNMP (v1/2/3), WMI/WinRM, XLM/CLI, Log Parsing, SNMP Traps, Syslog, SQL Queries and Synthetic Transactions.

Vendor OS and Agnostic

AEB doesn’t discriminate or care what platform you run on. We support most major hardware platforms, cloud platforms and operating systems. We monitor servers from Dell, HP, Cisco, NetApp and EMC; EC2, Citrix and Azure cloud platforms; and Windows, Linux, Mac and UNIX operating systems. Custom SNMP MIBs are supported and custom development of monitoring scripts and pollers is available.

Server Support

Tier-1 Outage Remediation is also available for monitored servers. Common tier-1 efforts include restarting applications, rebooting servers, opening hardware support tickets and more. AEB also offers customer-specific Tier-2 support for servers which includes things like backups, patch management, PowerShell & Bash scripting and Active Directory support. Tier-2 support may be incident or project based. Contact us for more information!

It’s great to know we caught an outage at 3 AM. Knowing it was handled while you slept? Priceless!

Our expert NOC management team will sit down with you to discuss the most common issues keeping you and your staff up at night. Then we’ll develop process flows to guide our engineers step-by-step in resolving those issues. There is no additional cost for run-book development and they are intended to be flexible, living documents that improve over time.

As we gain experience with your systems and staff, we continuously improve our run-books to serve you better. We’ll take on as much, or as little, as you desire. We can provide Tier-1 Remediation 24 hours a day, or just after hours and weekends.

One of our most common Tier-1 Remediation tasks is to open carrier tickets when circuits either go down or start showing performance degradation. We can open tickets via phone, Internet portal, email or whatever other method(s) the carriers support. Once we have circuit IDs, carrier information and appropriate credentials, we’re good to go.

Another common Tier-1 activity is restarting applications and/or rebooting servers. We normally do this sort of thing at the command line or via an Internet portal. Since our monitoring server sits on your network, we should have quick and direct access. If a server is unresponsive, we may still be able to restart it by power cycling an IP-addressable PDU (power strip) or out-of-band management.

If we can develop some standard operating procedures, we can add them to your run-book. Other examples include password resets, opening hardware vendor tickets, coordinating activities with remote hands, and performing remote site access control.

  • Restarting Applications
  • Rebooting Servers
  • Opening Carrier/ISP Tickets
  • Opening Hardware Vendor Tickets
  • Password Resets
  • Remote Access Control

If you have a data center, you need to know what’s going on when you aren’t on site. AEB monitors data centers 24×7.

If we had a dollar for every infrastructure outage caused by power, we’d have retired a long time ago. Power is perhaps the number one culprit in the most common outages we see, and effective monitoring is key. AEB engineers are highly skilled in monitoring UPS Capacity and Load, Power Levels, Battery Health, Rectifiers and many other related metrics. We also offer full support for SNMP Traps and Syslog.

If hurricanes teach us anything (and we have seen a lot of those recently), it’s to make sure you test your generators. Most newer generators have management cards available for network connectivity and monitoring. If yours does not, we work with a variety of vendors who make older generators IP-addressable via dry contact devices. In either case, AEB excels at monitoring Availability, Test History, Generator Running condition, Transfer Switches, Fuel Levels, Oil Pressure, Load and more.

Have you ever walked into a data center and thought you’d just entered a sauna? Ever notice how IT infrastructure tends to be incompatible with flooding? We have, and it’s never a good time for anyone. AEB engineers are highly experienced in monitoring Temperature, Humidity, Airflow, Water Intrusion, Open Doors/Cabinets/Cages and most other environmental variables. We support most 3rd party vendors and can recommend appropriate vendors as indicated.

AEB NOC engineers are US-based and available 24x7x365. We can provide remote access control to your data centers, answer calls for access, work with on-site security personnel, provide authentication services, coordinate access for equipment vendors and more.

AEB provides 24×7 monitoring of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) systems from our US-based Network Operations Center. We monitor:

  • UPS
  • Generators
  • Transfer Switches
  • Rectifiers
  • PDUs
  • Power Levels
  • Temperature/Humidity
  • Airflow
  • Fire Suppression
  • Access Control

In today’s world, your network has to be up 24×7. But that doesn’t mean your staff does! AEB can help.

With AEB, you’ll always have eyes on your network. When something goes wrong, you can expect us to follow up with a phone call from an actual NOC engineer located here in the United States. We also generate automated alerts via email, pager (yes, people still have those) and SMS. Our trouble-ticketing system keeps tabs on everything and our Internet portal allows you to see what’s happening in real-time.

Our optional Tier-1 Outage Remediation lets you sleep through the night, while our engineers work diligently to resolve your outages. Rest easy knowing we’ve got your back! We’ll work with you to develop “run books” which document the steps to take in the event of a network issue. Common examples include opening carrier tickets, resetting interfaces and rebooting hosts.

For most network devices, we monitor a standard set of metrics which include link status, bandwidth utilization, errors and packets. Other popular metrics include CPU utilization, memory, latency and power

We’ll receive and process SNMP traps and syslog messages generated by monitored network equipment. Our flexible, rules-based events engine allows us to specify the severity of events at the moment they’re received, and generate alerts via email, SMS, page and/or phone calls to your staff from our 24×7 NOC. Rules may even be time-based or count-based, to give alerts time to clear and reduce false-positive alerts.

AEB will monitor your network using a variety of methods, including standard protocols such as:

  • SNMP (v1, 2 & 3)
  • CLI Scripts
  • HTTP/S Polling

AEB can parse event logs looking for error codes, success/failure messages, power interruptions, last gasps or other helpful information. This can be extremely useful both in detecting problems before they become service-affecting, and improving our monitoring after-the-fact. We may also collect log statistics for use during Tier-1 Remediation efforts when we open carrier tickets.

In today’s connected world, network uptime is more important than ever. “Best effort” doesn’t cut it anymore and 24×7 availability is required. AEB will help you get there without busting your budget or hiring new personnel. We monitor:

  • Routers & Switches
  • Firewalls
  • VPN Tunnels
  • Wireless Access Points
  • LANs/WANs/MANs
  • Small Cells & DAS

If a website becomes unavailable or its performance is degraded, it can have an immediate, negative impact on your business. You need a NOC partner to help keep things running smoothly.  AEB is that NOC partner.

AEB executes HTTP & HTTPS polls at regular intervals for availability reporting and alerting. When a website fails to respond, or an error code is returned, we generate automated email/SMS/pager alerts which are followed up by a phone call from our U.S.-based 24×7 NOC.

We mimic actual traffic by performing synthetic transactions, like bringing up a web page, logging in, downloading files or adding items to a cart. We might also look for specific text or images to appear on a page. This verifies that web servers, load balancers, security mechanisms and authentication systems are functioning properly.

The AEB platform’s alerting thresholds are fully customized to the needs of each business, and can even be dynamic. And because all AEB offerings are managed by our staff of professional NOC engineers and programmers, you can be sure your site is in good hands.

A website is a critical part of any business. If it’s down, you’re losing money. When minutes matter and seconds count, you need a NOC partner to help keep things running smoothly, 24/7/365.

AEB Networks can monitor your:

  • Website availability

  • Website response time

  • Website certificates

  • HTTP/S Response Codes

  • Website Content Checks

  • Synthetic Transactions

  • Port Monitoring

  • DNS & Load Balancers
